Meet the Artist

My name is Jackie DeVito, and I’m an illustrator who grew up on the shores of Long Island. My art is inspired by my love for the ocean, despite now living in the High Desert. The latter of which is creeping its way into my art (see Gumption, Issue #1). 

I love creating work that is silly and whimsical, with bright colors that are eye-catching. My art intends to tell a story, even if it’s not sequential and in the form of an illustration or a sticker. I was a screen printer for 6 years, in which I loved playing around with the medium. Screen printing inspired me to start my own shop online, where I create the nature inspired merch I wanted to see. This led me to realizing what I could make with my local businesses in my hometown and how to bring art to their business. I love creating something that is tangible and working with clients to create their dream products and designs. While my body of work is mostly Ocean inspired, I do love a challenge and creating pieces outside of that realm as well. 

I graduated School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Cartooning in 2021. While comics will always be my first love, I do create other forms of media.

When I’m not in the studio creating new works, I’m out hiking nature and exploring the world around me, putting a needle on a vinyl and listening to new rock albums, or playing with my 5 year old cat, Randy Savage.
